Ian MacGregor | Chairman of the Board

Mr. MacGregor is a successful, independent businessman with over 30 years of business creation and development experience. He founded and co-founded several businesses including: Abax Energy Services, an oilfield engineering and construction company; Solex Energy, a private oil and gas company; and White Pass Capital, a private investment company. His primary interests and responsibilities lie in the areas of finance, new and existing business development, and asset and business turnarounds, improvement and optimization.

Mr. MacGregor has considerable experience in creating economic value in conjunction with large partners such as PanCanadian Energy and Brooklyn Union Gas. Mr. MacGregor continues to have significant interest and involvement in numerous Alberta-based companies.

Robert A. Pearce | President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Pearce is a highly experienced executive with a deep understanding of corporate financial issues including debt and equity capital markets, strategy and planning, acquisitions and divestitures, risk management and investor relations. He was the General Manager and Treasurer of PanCanadian Energy Inc. prior to its merger with Alberta Energy Company (AEC) to form EnCana.

In his various roles at PanCanadian, Mr. Pearce was closely involved with numerous major capital projects and transactions, several of which were complex and innovative breaks from precedents. He was also instrumental in raising significant funds for PanCanadian in the debt capital markets in Canada and the U.S.

Mr. Pearce has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration.

George F. J. Gosbee

Mr. Gosbee founded Tristone Capital Inc. in September 2000. Tristone Capital is a global investment banking firm that specializes in the energy industry. With offices in London, Calgary, Houston, and Denver, Tristone Capital provides Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and Property Acquisitions & Divesture services to Oil & Gas and Institutional Investors around the world.

Prior to Tristone, Mr. Gosbee was a Managing Director at Newcrest Capital Inc., a Canadian national investment firm. Mr. Gosbee joined Newcrest after six years with the energy investment firm of Peters & Co. Limited, where he was a Managing Director and served on the Executive Committee.

In 2004, the Globe and Mail named him one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 Leaders and was recently named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Albertans by Alberta Venture magazine. Mr. Gosbee sits on numerous corporate and charitable boards.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary where he specialized in Finance and Petroleum Land Management.

Gary Lee

Mr. Lee was a practicing lawyer from 1981 until his resignation in 1999. During this period, he was the chief legal counsel to several national and international companies in connection with numerous commercial transactions. Mr. Lee’s law practice was primarily focused in the areas of corporate finance (equity, debt and project financings), partnerships and joint ventures, and acquisitions and dispositions. After his resignation he co-founded White Pass Capital Inc. After White Pass Capital sold its interest in the Menlo Park Capital partnership in 2002, he co-founded North West Capital.

Gordon Phillips

Mr. Phillips has a wealth of knowledge to assist North West due to his senior executive roles within the petroleum industry. He is currently Owner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Guard Resources Ltd., a management company that provides professional and technical advice and administrative services to a variety of institutional and other investors in Canada’s petroleum industry. Mr. Phillips is also Owner, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Hike Resources, Inc., President and Chief Executive Officer of OMERS Energy Inc. and Superman Resources, and Director and Chairman of CEDA International Corp.

Eric L. Schwitzer

Mr. Schwitzer is a Managing Partner at Enterprise Capital Management Inc.  Enterprise has in excess of $300 million under management.  Prior to joining Enterprise Mr. Schwitzer was Senior Vice President, Strategic Development at Westcoast Energy Inc., responsible for Westcoast's corporate planning and strategic development functions and for the ultimate sale of Westcoast to Duke Energy for $13 billion.  Prior to August, 1999 Mr. Schwitzer was Managing Director of ScotiaMcLeod Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Nova Scotia and one of Canada's leading full service investment banking firms.  His investment banking experience includes billions of dollars of financings in public and private markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, business valuations and expert financial testimony.  He is currently a director of  Pitchstone Exploration Ltd., SNP Split Corp. and SNP Health Split Corp.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from McGill University, a Master of Management Science degree (S.M.) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Chartered Business Valuator ("CBV").

Hank Swartout

Mr. Swartout is a highly successful and entrepreneurial businessman with decades of business experience. He is Executive Chairman of Precision Drilling Corporation, the largest drilling contractor in Canada and the third largest land-driller in the world. He provides expertise in advisory roles to numerous Alberta corporations including Temple Energy Inc. and Ferus Gas Industries.  He is a director of several Alberta-based public and private corporations.

Mr. Swartout holds a Petroleum Engineering diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and a Petroleum Engineering degree (hons.) from the University of Wyoming. He continues to be active in the Calgary community in supporting early stage energy and production corporations and developing industry in Alberta.
