North West Upgrading (NWU) is a private, Alberta-based company with headquarters in Calgary. NWU was founded in 2004 by a group of Albertans who shared a vision to build a world class bitumen refining business in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, maximizing the value of bitumen resources in a responsible and sustainable manner.
It's a vision shared by the Alberta Government, which has clearly stated its own goal is to position the province as a global energy leader an energy technology champion and a solid, global environmental citizen.
