Project Overview

North West Upgrading will serve independent bitumen producers by making value added products. The project will include three phases, each with a daily capacity of 77,080 barrels of bitumen blend feedstock. The first phase will begin start up in 2011.  The Upgrader will be capable of processing 231,240 barrels per day of blended feedstock when built out to its design of three phases. Value added products include:

  • Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel, a valuable market-ready fuel 
  • Diluent, to blend with heavy oil & bitumen for transport
  • Low Sulphur Vacuum Gas Oil, for refining into gasoline 
  • Butane, for fuel and petrochemicals
